Keen Young Cook Winners

Ethan Kirkby, Ermysted's Grammar School, Yorkshire &

Sarah Blockley, Brentwood School, Essex.

Ethan Kirkby and Sarah Blockley, both 15, cooked their way to the top of the Keen Young Cooks category in 2018's Teflon™ Diamond Standard Awards. Both young cooks secured opportunities to take up the sponsored three year  Specialised Chefs Scholarship with the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts and managed by Bournemouth & Poole College.

They beat 10 others to the title in the National Final with their signature bakes; Sarah baked Raspberry & Pistachio Friands with a Sweet Creme Anglaise Sauce and Tart Raspberry Coulis and Ethan baked a Chocolate Fondant with Salted Caramel Sauce, Brittle & Raspberry Coulis.

Aspiring Student Chef Winner

Mary Harper, Loughborough College

Having participated for the last 2 years, this year was Mary Harper's time to shine as she won the Aspiring Student Chef title with help of her tutor Darren Creed.

The Loughborough College student, 18, beat 11 other student chefs in the National Final with her exquisite Breast of Pheasant, Winter Vegetable & Parsnip Puree, Sherry Vinegar Perlage, Port Wine Jus.


She won a sponsored three year Specialised Chefs Scholarship with the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts and managed by Bournemouth & Poole College along with cash prize and cookware.

Keen Home Cook Winner

Rosina Watkins, Bishopstoke

Our Keen Home Cook champion, Rosina, cooked her way to the top with her Goose Bon Bons with Beetroot Mash, Glazed Carrots, Blackberry Sauce & Crispy Veg. 


Rosina will be joining Lesley Waters in October to partake in an Oriental Kitchen Hands-On-Day at the Lesley Waters Cookery School as part of her foodie weekend for 2 prize.
